Ayo is an accomplished architectural and urban design professional with a successful record providing leadership and technical expertise on an array of large-scale projects spanning waterfront revitalization, transit-oriented developments, institutional programs, and resilience planning for at-risk communities. His work and the projects he’s been involved in over 15 years of professional practice have been widely recognized, published, and received national and international awards.

Primarily a problem-solver and with designs grounded in insights about people, Ayo also possesses strong knowledge of human-centered design methods and processes, from contextual research techniques to collaborative design methods, to behavioral analytics. Thus, he often finds inspiration outside of design fields, integrating political, social, financial, and technological processes that combine to create the built environment.

Skilled at bringing order to complexity has resulted in positions of leading large teams. He has consistently delivered results by providing operational clarity, excelling at handling pressure and setbacks, and strategically managing technical and people problems alike. A seasoned communicator, he is able to effectively engage with stakeholders from all backgrounds.

Ayo also serves on the American Institute of Architects New York State (AIANYS) Board of Directors and is a Perkins Eastman Senior Associate. Through a Perkins Eastman Traveling Scholarship, speaking engagements at the national and international level, and strategic partnerships with the 100 Resilient Cities (pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation), he has also cultivated thought leadership while continuing to help develop the firm’s resilience expertise and practice.

Fundamentally, Ayo’s commitment to “Creating” and to service fuels his passion for a wide variety of endeavors including art/painting; writing; running and training; food and nutrition; advocating; and entrepreneurial pursuits. There are always multiple burners being engaged!

Ayo resides and works in New York City. He earned a Master of Architecture in Urban Design (MAUD) from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas.
